Alexandria, Va. – NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia is proud to endorse reproductive rights advocate and Democratic incumbent, Delegate Alfonso Lopez, representing Virginia’s 49th House District.
Delegate Lopez has proven to be a steadfast advocate for reproductive freedom during his tenure in the General Assembly. He understands what is at stake for Virginians and can be counted on to stand up for women and families.
“We are confident that Delegate Lopez will continue to fight to protect and expand access to the full gamut of reproductive healthcare services and our rights in the General Assembly” said Tarina Keene, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia. “His leadership is needed now more than ever to fend off attacks here in the Commonwealth that we are seeing around the country.
“Anti-choice politicians from Alabama to Ohio are unabashedly taking aim at our reproductive freedoms with a coordinated scheme of abortion bans and one goal in mind — shutoff access to safe and legal abortion and punish women” commented Tarina Keene. “And anti-choice politicians here in Virginia have the exact same goal in mind. That’s why we need the leadership of dedicated reproductive rights legislators like Delegate Lopez who will not back down when it comes to standing up and fighting for all Virginians.”
“I am thrilled to earn NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia’s endorsement,” said Delegate Alfonso Lopez. “With the recent assault on access to abortion in state legislatures across the country and Roe v. Wade hanging by a tenuous thread, I am committed to safeguarding access to reproductive healthcare and ensuring abortion remains safe and legal in the Commonwealth of Virginia. In the face of anti-choice politicians ramping up their attacks on Virginian’s basic freedoms, I will stand up and fight for Virginia women and families by supporting legislation that protects Virginians’ bodily autonomy.”
NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia and its PAC support candidates who are dedicated to family planning, preventing unplanned pregnancy, and increasing access to reproductive healthcare for women and families. The organization’s powerful statewide network of 22,000 activists will mobilize pro-choice voters throughout Virginia to help elect pro-choice candidates in November.
