2021 Richmond Canvass Director

Are you a progressive who has a passion for reproductive freedom? Are you eager to elect pro-choice champions to office? Do you have experience building out canvass teams?  Do you want to help change the destructive narratives stigmatizing access to reproductive healthcare and rights? You may be a perfect fit for our field team this fall!

NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia seeks a temporary full-time Richmond Canvass Director who will be responsible for hiring, training, and running our paid canvass operation for the 2021 electoral cycle. Our paid canvass will aim to elect pro-choice candidates in the Richmond area and advocate for policies that protect and expand reproductive healthcare access in Virginia.

Who We Are
We are a culture of progressive people deeply committed to reproductive rights and freedom and we are eager to defend and advance those rights. The work we do is often time-sensitive and news-driven, so being able to switch gears, re-prioritize, and project hop comfortably is important. Our team is very collaborative and supportive; we encourage asking for help when it is needed and often pitch in across teams when things get busy. We are diverse and visionary thinkers. We welcome your bold and creative ideas and experience in content creation.

We believe that a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace makes us a more relevant, more creative, and more resilient organization. We encourage people from all backgrounds, ages, abilities, and experiences to apply. We are an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ancestry, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, age, marital or family status, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, pregnancy or caregiver status, veteran status, or any other legally protected status. We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodations to participate in the job application and interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.

A Note to Potential Candidates: Studies have shown that women, trans, non-binary folks, and BIPOC are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every single one of the qualifications as described in a job description. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive organization, and we are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job. That candidate may be one who comes from a background less traditional to our field of work, and that’s okay. We would strongly encourage you to apply, even if you don’t believe you meet every one of the qualifications described.
