Ana Owens manages NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia’s team of 4 amazing grassroots organizers across the Commonwealth to implement all advocacy, electoral, and issue-based campaigns. With her staff, Ana works closely with NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia’s many volunteers and student activists to elect pro-choice candidates, diversify and strengthen our base of reproductive rights activists, and reduce shame and stigma around abortion.
Ana earned a BS from Emory & Henry College in 2012 where she competed as a student-athlete and began organizing as a student activist. Following graduation Ana worked as an organizer to elect Governor McAuliffe and Senator Jennifer Wexton. Ana continued her electoral work during the 2014 midterms acting as a Regional Field Director for the Democratic Coordinated Campaign in Arkansas where she led a diverse team of organizers, local unions, elected officials, committee members, and grasstops leaders in creating a lasting community volunteer infrastructure in a rural area of the state. She served as the Field Director for several competitive county races in Arlington, VA in 2015 before transitioning into issue based work. Ana joined NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia in 2016 from a national public interest organization where she lobbied members of Congress and White House officials on issues of fiscal policy and corporate accountability.
