“A Look Ahead” Legislative Session” Winter Webinar
Monday, December 10, 2018/6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

It’s been a busy year for us here at NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia, but our energy doesn’t stop as the year winds down– in fact, we’re just getting started!

We know that it’s not a question of “if” Roe is overturned, it’s when. So much has happened this past year, from progressive electoral sweeps to outrageous anti-choice laws getting ready to challenge the courts, and we’re taking it all in to make a bold, pro-choice, proactive agenda to ensure that safe, legal abortion and other critical reproductive healthcare services are protected (and expanded!) here in Virginia. We know we have the opportunity, and the responsibility, to be a beacon of progressive change for the south.

As our supporters, activists, and volunteers, you power our work all through the year. That’s why we’re giving you the inside scoop into our bold plan of action this year as the General Assembly session picks up this January. We’re ready for it– are you? Learn about our priority legislation, our strategy, and how you can get involved this winter to create real change in Virginia.

Join us for our monthly “Pro-Choice Positive Presence” in support of the patients, doctors and staff at Falls Church Healthcare Center. We’ll stand outside the clinic, where the FCHC staff and escorts can see us, and be a supportive, positive presence to counter the negativity of anti-choice protesters. We will *not* be counter-protesting or engaging with anti-choicers, but rather focusing on uplifting the people accessing and delivering reproductive healthcare services.

Day of Action for Jennifer Boysko for Senate
Saturday, December 15, 2018/9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Mark your calendar: December 15, 2018 will be a Day of Action to help NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia-endorsed candidate Delegate Jennifer Boysko become the next state Senator for Virginia’s 33rd Senate District.

Jennifer Boysko has been fighting for reproductive rights for years, even before her election to the House of Delegates, and now we need her to fill Congresswoman-elect Jennifer Wexton’s vacant state Senate seat in a special election that will be held on January 8, 2019.

It is critical that we elect Jennifer Boysko to the state Senate, where anti-choice legislators currently hold a two-seat majority (21-19). Next November, Virginians will have the opportunity to elect a pro-choice majority to the state Senate and House; and it all starts with making sure Jennifer Boysko is the next Senator for Virginia’s 33rd district.

Canvass shifts are 9a – 12p, 12p – 3p, and 2p – 5p. Need transportation to Sterling? Email nicole@naralva.org.

Legislative Rapid Response Team
Monday, December 31, 2018/12:00 am - 12:01 amOnline

Now more than ever, we need Virginia’s pro-choice majority to stand up and make sure our voices are heard this legislative session! In Virginia, the balance of power closer is than ever– we have a rare opportunity to affect proactive change. And yet the future of Roe and abortion access is on eggshells, putting reproductive freedom at risk across the country. This January, our fight continues right here in the Commonwealth.

That’s why we need committed supporters like you to join us as we fight for pro-choice legislative advances and against extremist, dangerous attacks. The Legislative Rapid Response Team is an elite group of activists who commit to specific actions during our fast-past, month-long legislative session. With a range of activities based on your time and availability, there’s a way for you to make your voice heard this year!

In return, NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia commits to providing you with all the support you need to take action: sample phone scripts and talking points, help drafting written materials or making submissions, and some travel & meals for those who live outside the Richmond area. We will also host weekly phone calls every Friday to review the week’s legislative happenings to make sure you’re always prepared and ready to act!

**Legislative session begins on January 9, 2019**

All Legislative Rapid Response Team action alerts will be distributed via email.
