Taylor Bernstein joined NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia as the Northern Virginia Community Organizer in the summer of 2019. As a community organizer, Taylor is particularly passionate about the power activists and supports have in influencing policy and elections—she firmly believes that our voices can and should influence policy outcomes! Taylor seeks to create programming that empowers and educates activists about the importance of reproductive rights, the role of intersectionality in overcoming barriers to abortion access, and the steps we can all take promote access to reproductive healthcare in our community.
A native of Philadelphia, Taylor graduated summa cum laude with a degree in political science and music from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. While at Bucknell, Taylor undertook significant research in both historical musicology and political science, culminating in her senior thesis, “Who Runs the World: The Impact of the Gender of Clerks on the Legal Profession,” which examined the gendered experiences of federal appellate clerks. She also helped lead the Bucknell College Democrats and participated in the Bucknell Opera Theater. When she isn’t at work, Taylor enjoys volunteering for progressive candidates, travelling to obscure places, reading about American history, and making music.
